How To Prepare For Your First Corporate Video Interview

Hey there,

First things first – don't worry! We totally get it – most of our clients have never done a video interview before, so it's totally normal to feel a little stressed or uncomfortable.
But don't fret, we're here to help you out and make this process as stress-free and fun as possible!

Here are some friendly tips to help you feel more comfortable and confident:

  • Do not look at the camera, pretend that it's just not there. You are having a conversation with the interviewer.

  • Relax! And know that your video will be edited after all.

  • Practice beforehand: Take some time to practice what you want to say before the shoot. This will help you feel more confident and prepared.

  • Speak clearly and slowly: It's important to speak clearly and slowly so that your message can be understood. Take your time and try not to rush your words.

  • Smile and be natural: Smile and try to be natural on camera. Pretend like you're talking to a friend instead of a camera.

  • Use gestures: Use natural gestures to help emphasize your message. This can help you feel more comfortable and engaged.

  • Dress appropriately: Dress in clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the shoot. You want to feel confident and at ease in your outfit.

  • Focus on the message: Remember that the focus is on the message you are delivering. Try not to worry too much about how you look or sound on camera.

  • Take breaks if needed: If you're feeling nervous or overwhelmed, don't be afraid to take a break. Take a few deep breaths, stretch your body, or grab a drink of water.

  • Remember to complete your sentences and avoid trailing off. The editing is smoother when there are complete thoughts and less “umms” and “ahhs”.

See you at the interview!

As a video production company, we understand the importance of creating a professional image for your corporate video shoot.

Here are some recommendations on what to wear:

  • Dress appropriately: Choose clothing that is appropriate for the purpose of the video shoot.

  • Consider the colours and patterns: Solid colours and simple patterns work best on camera. Avoid bright colours and bold patterns that can be distracting. Branded clothing is an ideal option for the team.

  • Pay attention to the fit: Make sure that your clothing fits well and is comfortable to wear. You don't want to be fidgeting or adjusting your clothing during the shoot.

  • Avoid noisy accessories: Avoid wearing noisy jewelry or accessories that can be distracting on camera.

  • Dress for the location: Consider the location and environment of the shoot when choosing your outfit. For example, if you're shooting outdoors, make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Coordinate with the rest of the team: If you are part of a team, consider coordinating your outfits to create a cohesive look on camera.
